It will be 12 years this Earth Day that Organic Oasis opened its doors to Anchorage. Enzyme Express was the first juice bar in Anchorage. Steve thought up the name Enzyme Express in 1986 and was a big part of that store’s expression to the community.

In 1995 it was time to move on. It was sad when Enzyme Express closed its doors a few years later. Hence, Organic Oasis was born.

This is a transitional restaurant, meaning that it serves both ends: regular comfort foods and live & vegan foods as well. We want all peoples to be able to eat at the same table, whether it is raw & live, vegan, vegetarian or carnivorous. Organic Oasis is over half organic, the most in Anchorage. Most of our supplies come up on the barges.

Forget sprouts, chickpeas and whole-grain bread next time you go to Organic Oasis and opt for a fruit turnover instead. Between the flaky shell and rich fruit innards, the dish sates every aspect of the body from lips to brain stem.
